Year End Silly Stuff…..

A few years ago on Stashbusters someone started a challenge for thread usuage….just save your empties and post a picture at year’s end.   Just a few played along and it was kind of fun seeing how much I used.

For the last few years I have continued to save my empty spools.  I calculate how much thread I have used and then donate the empty spools to the local schools.  This year I gathered the spools from both sewing spots and started adding.

spools It is pretty apparent I am not working on anything pressing …I noted the yardage on each spool then grouped them by size.

17,767 yards! or 53,301 ft   or 639,612 inches.

That’s 10.0948 miles.

Just 538 yards more than last year.

I’ve tidied up the studio and counted my UFOs ,  I am so ready for the New Year.

That’s more than double what I managed! (only 7 1200 yard spools)

    Hi Cheryl:
I, too, kept my empty spools and the little cores of the prewound bobbins. Kind of surprised myself when totalled them – 10,707 yards! I only get two flimsies completed, but a lot of little ‘things’ done. The flimsies were Orca Bay and Steve’s Star (a large patriotic quilt). I’m ready to start another project or two now. Have a Happy, Quilty New Year.
